Me and my friend Isabel love to go places together, outside our own country as well as more familiar cities. We’ve been to Paris together, are planning on going to London this summer with two more friends and regularly go to Amsterdam. This time though, we made a little trip to Utrecht.
Luckily for us, it only takes half an hour by train, and you end up in the middle of Utrecht. I had been in Utrecht before, and so had Isabel, though I had actually wandered around the city and she hadn’t seen much of it yet. The last time I’d been there I had lunch with three friends before we went ice skating, so I knew a nice place to have lunch, an therefore we went there first.
The restaurant was called PK, and seeing that it was in the middle of Utrecht and it was a Saturday, it was packed. Luckily though, we found a table upstairs against the wall, and as I had hoped, my friend loved it too. PK is incredibly modern and the aesthetic is amazing. The food is delicious and simple, and not too expensive either. Also, the waiter and waitresses serving us were incredibly nice.
As seen on the picture above, I ordered a simple coke and the caramelised goat cheese salad. My friend decided to go for a sandwich with ham and some rose lemonade. The salad was literally as big as my head, but it was too delicious for my own good, and I ate most of it. Then, because we needed something to put us in a good mood ( God were we cranky ) we also took some cake for dessert, and it was heavenly! If you ever were to go to Utrecht, I’d recommend you have some lunch here. Check out their website for their address and menu.
After our formidable lunch, we went for a stroll along the canal, and almost immediately, my friend pulled me over the bridge to a shop called ‘Flying Tiger’, which is apparently a Danish shop. First, I wasn’t too sure about it, but they sell such cool things ( see the pictures below). Once again, I’d really recommend you go there. The prices are great, it’s literally across the street from PK and incredibly close to the McDonalds, Starbucks and other big shops on the busier streets ( in short: it’s easy to find ) and they sell very handy things, nice sunglasses, the cutest accessories and the most original kitchen tools.
After that, we found an Urban Outfitters just around the corner – it was literally like a two minute walk – and inside, we were in heaven, as we found… drumroll please… a Photo Booth! Now, I can’t really explain why, but Isabel and I are just very excited when it comes to photo booths. Isabel spotted it in the middle of the store, we looked at each other and our cranky behaviour and bad moods just disappeared as we sat down and thought about our poses.
A problem that I feel like I have when it comes to Urban Outfitters, is that it is pretty expensive but I like EVERYTHING. Well, not everything, but a lot. And every single time you see something cute and you look at the price to see if it is actually affordable, you are disappointed. Yet, the shop is pretty, so we did a quick round anyway, and when we got upstairs, we saw some pretty world maps and a map of all the stars we can see from Earth. My friend was in love with the star one, yet didn’t even bother looking at the price. Me, being curious and wanting to check, realised what a bargain it was. Only €8,00 for a map like that! Like, a beautiful, almost vintage-like, world map. Of course we couldn’t pass on that opportunity. Also, the guy behind the counter was incredibly handsome 😉 .
After that, we hopped into Monki on our way to Lush, yet we refrained ourselves from buying anything, not wanting to be broke on the first of April, because that’d mean we’d have to wait a whole month until we’d get our salary. So, we didn’t buy anything there, and even at Lush we managed to not spend our money on every single bath bomb they had. Because of the photo booth in Urban Outfitters though, we were basically the happiest people alive, and practically danced through the streets.
Then, to end the day in a good way, we bought some ice-cream and took some outfit photo’s. It was truly a day to remember. (outfit details & social media links below) Thanks for reading, all the love. x
