GETTING THINGS DONE – How To Be Productive

So, even for me, school has now officially begun, and sadly I’m writing this late at night, with the curtains drawn in my dining room, after having attempted to do my physics homework for about an hour. 😦 But, obviously, I am already being productive, which I’m proud of 🙂 . So, that’s why I’ll be breaking down multiple “steps” to productivity:

Want to be productive? Well, here’s how:

GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP

Yes, I know this is an obvious one, and, yes, I know you’ve probably even heard your mom say this, but even though it’s obvious, we sometimes tend to forget how important sleep actually is. And don’t get me wrong, I’m one to still be on my phone at 1 am then waking up to promise myself to never do that again and go to sleep early that night and then fail to do so. So, if you have exams coming up or tests, just at least try to put away your phone and go to bed early, because it actually works. 🙂

TIDY YOUR WORKSPACE

No one works well in a messy workspace. You might not mind it as much as some people do, but it really helps to have a tidy workspace and to only have the things you actually need on your desk.

CREATE A TO-DO LIST

Being able to cross things off is something incredibly satisfying and something that also feels rewarding. Also, having a clear idea of everything you actually need to do is actually pretty nice. One more thing though: don’t overdo it on the to-do list and be realistic; otherwise it’ll only depress you.

GO FOR A WALK / GET FRESH AIR

If you feel like suffocating after studying for hours on end, the best thing to do is go for walk (almost literally clearing your mind). If you have a dog: go to the woods and take a nice, long stroll. Don’t think about school, just take the time to rewind and relax a little. Everyone needs those kinds of breaks.

WRITE DOWN THREE REASONS WHY YOU’RE DOING WHAT YOU’RE DOING

There’s always a reason you’re trying to be productive, and often, there’s more than one. So write those down on paper (not on your phone) and read those over when you start feeling unmotivated. It’s important to keep reminding yourself why you’re doing all this work.

COMFORTABLE, BUT NOT TOO COMFORTABLE

Of course, when you have a tough day full of studying and working ahead, it is incredibly attractive and easy to just wear some joggers and your most comfortable jumper. But, this might make you feel even more depressed as these clothes make you long for your bed even more. So, if you recognize this, then wear jeans and a soft cardigan instead. Comfortable, yet not too comfortable.

CREATE A PRODUCTIVITY PLAYLIST

Because, well, music always works. Maybe leave those songs you always sing along to though, because they might only distract you from the real goal.

LEAVE YOUR PHONE SOMEWHERE ELSE

You’re rolling your eyes right now. I know. You are also scolding me for putting this cliche thing in here. But, it’s true. So roll your eyes all you want, then stand up and put your phone away and be productive.

Now you should be ready to face a day full of productivity. I hope this blog post helped you or inspired you, or at least entertained you for the time being. All the love, x. ❤

  1. This really helped me out today, especially the clothing tip! (probably should have left my phone alone a bit more but we can’t all be perfect)
Love the way you write, keep up the good (productive) work 😉
